It was a clear and beautiful day in Avila, California, and the golf course where the festival was held was easily the most picturesque place we have ever poured beer.
Minutes after we finished setting up, between Pizza Port and Santa Barbara Brewing, the pouring began - and our taps never sat idle for the entire 3 1/2 hours. We held up well, especially in the shadow of big boys. We were the only organic brewery there and we had so many repeat tasters, we felt pretty good that our product could stand out in the crowd. Most of the attenders were college age, from UCSB, Cal Poly, and Fresno and all of them appreciated that we were from Santa Cruz. A few people had even read about us in the current issue of The Celebrator.
Midway through the festival, a wind picked up and my allergies went haywire, rendering me pretty much useless to pour anymore beer, for fear that I would sneeze into someone's taster glass. I sneezed and sneezed more than I have ever sneezed in my life. I had to vacate my job post at the jockey box but it left me open for capturing photos of creative marketing utilization with our bumper stickers.
All in all - a great festival. Tons of breweries present - lots of good beer.
Summer is upon us - let the beer drinking season begin!
