Well, we officially opened with a bang! With no advertising and just a few handpainted, borrowed signs on Swift Street, we had a pretty good run. Friday during the Farmer's Market, the brewery was a big hit and even made chowhound. Lisa rocked the tasting bar, gracing the brewery with her presence and stunning beer drinkers from all over. By the end of the evening, she had several suitors as well as a fat jar of tips. People were very positive about the beer and to our surprise, many of the folks who bought beer on Friday came back Saturday, Sunday and Monday for more.
Chad, again rocked the brewery on Sunday, selling multiple cases and kegs. He was swamped by a hombrewing club who was having their meeting just down the street. They brought all kinds of their own beer to share - raspberry wheat, russian stouts... etc. What a treat!
Tom and I kegged the Red Ale on Monday and with no signage in the neighborhood, we still had several folks at the tasting bar. Sales are good - better than expected. Now we have to get the word out!
The Amber is a surprise HIT... even to us. It turned out remarkably and with the excitement at the Friday Farmer's Market ~ Tom, Chad, and I went in early Saturday morning for an urgent Amber Bottling session. Good thing! We sold tons of it! It really is a tasty beer.. and so beautiful in your glass.
Dave Bossie helped out behind the bar and we quickly realized that we need people like him to work the tasting bar as well!
Scott, our keg salesman, turned 40 this weekend!!! and we smuggled the pale and amber in 3 gallon water jugs down to the beach. It may have been risky, but no one should turn 40 without beer! Happy Birthday Scottie!
Lots of work to do this week - time to move the beers out into the wild world of distribution. More brewing tomorrow, and lots more packaging. We have two batches of Pale and a batch of IPA to get into bottles and kegs. Our brewery really is brewing... with a monthly total of 1400 gallons. Not bad for the first month brewing. 4000 gallons doesn't seem so far away.
