It has been a bittersweet week at the brewery.
Sunday the article came out in the Santa Cruz Sentinel Business section and our small brewery exploded into the Santa Cruz scene. Many thanks to Gwen Mickelson for writing such a nice article, taking the extra time to research Craft Brewing and to capture the spirit of Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing. Our sales and tasting went wild on Sunday as a result of the article and thankfully Scott and his dad, John, spent Father's Day entertaining beer lovers in Santa Cruz. Meanwhile, we delivered beer to Dan Blunk and the UCSC Sustainable Development Conference where they discussed smart solutions for the world's future over pints of organic pale and amber.
Brewing this week has been tough, emotionally and physically. One of our owners and brewers, Nick Thomas, has been recovering from a concussion and broken jaw all week. He has been suffering through excruciating headaches and our hearts and thoughts have been with him. Everyone at the Courtyard has kept him in in their thoughts as well, and there is void at the brewery without him. Even 'Taco Man' has been wondering why sales are down and talk around the 'Roach Coach' has been somber this week. We love and miss you Nick. Get well soon.
Thankfully, Tom took vacation time this week to help us keep up with demand, working in the morning at Harvey West and coming to the brewery at 7am for the day's brewhouse tasks. All in all, they got a bunch done, and there should be plenty of beer to keep the masses happy this weekend.
